What are the main application fields of nitrogen generators?

As a kind of air separation equipment, the nitrogen generator can separate high purity nitrogen gas from the air. According to the characteristics of nitrogen as an inert gas, we use it as a protective gas often. In higher purity nitrogen environment, nitrogen can prevent oxidation effectively. The following categories of industries and fields require or use nitrogen for its chemical stability.

 

1. Coal mining and storage

In the coal mines, when a fire occurs in the oxidation area of the goaf, the biggest disaster is the explosion of the internal mixed gas. Filling with nitrogen can control the oxygen content in the mixed gas as below as to 12%, which can not only suppresses the explosion probability, but also prevents the spontaneous combustion of coal, making the working environment safer.

 

2. Oil and gas extraction

Nitrogen is a standard gas used to repressurize oil and gas from large wells/gas reservoirs. Using the characteristics of nitrogen to maintain the oil layer pressure, mixed phase and immiscible oil displacement and gravity drainage technologies can increase oil recovery greatly, which is also of great significance for stabilizing oil production and increasing oil production.

Nitrogen-filled oil storage is to fill the oil storage tank with nitrogen and replace air from the tank to prevent the oil from being oxidized, thereby it ensures the safe storage of grease. There is higher the nitrogen content, meaning the lower the oxygen content, and the more conducive to storage. The nitrogen content has a huge impact on the storage of edible oils and fats.

 

8. Foods and drinks

Grains, canned foods, fruits, drinks, etc, are usually packed with nitrogen to prevent corrosion for convenient storage.

 

9. Plastic chemical industry

Nitrogen is led into the molding and cooling process of plastic parts, and nitrogen is used to reduce the deformation caused by the pressure on the plastic parts, so as to obtain stable and accurate size of the plastic parts. Using of nitrogen injection can improve the quality of injection molded products and the flexibility of design. According to different process conditions, the nitrogen purity required for plastic injection molding is different. Therefore, bottled nitrogen is not suitable, and it is best to use an on-site PSA nitrogen generator to supply nitrogen directly.

 

10. Production of rubber and resin

Rubber nitrogen vulcanization process means nitrogen is added as a protective gas in the process of rubber vulcanization .

 

11. Tires inflation

Filling the tires with nitrogen can improve the stability and comfort of driving, prevent punctures, and extend the life of the tires. Nitrogen has poor audio conductivity, so filling nitrogen in tires can reduce tire noise and improve driving comfort.

12. Metallurgy and heat treatment

As protective gas for continuous casting, continuous rolling and steel annealing, nitrogen is suitable to blow at the top and bottom of the converter for steel-making, the sealing of the converter steel, the sealing of the top of the blast furnace, and the gas for injection of pulverized coal in the blast furnace, etc.

14. Aviation and aerospace

In the process making ethanol from corn, it requires nitrogen for protection.

The fruits and vegetables are processed in a controlled atmosphere storage, which helps to improve the fresh-keeping effect, extend their shelf life, and meet all pollution-free standards of green storage.

 

17. Foods storage

In the storage of grain, nitrogen gas can prevent the grains/foods from rotting due to the influence of microorganisms, activities of pests or the respiration of the grain itself. In addition to reducing the oxygen content in the air, nitrogen can destroy the physiological activities of microorganisms and the living environment of insects, and it can also inhibit the respiration of the food itself.

During cutting stainless steel, nitrogen can prevent the cutting parts from being oxidized by oxygen when exposed to air, and also prevent the welding line from porosity.

22. Medicine & beauty

Nitrogen can be used in surgery, cryopreservation, blood refrigeration, drug freezing, and cryogenic smashing, etc., for example, be used as a refrigerant during the operations to remove spot, bagging and others in hospitals.
