Is the adsorption tower on the PSA nitrogen generator a pressure vessel?
Return

The pressure swing adsorption nitrogen generator (referred to as PSA nitrogen generator) uses two adsorption towers in parallel, and the sequence is strictly controlled by a specific programmable program, and the pressure adsorption and decompression regeneration are alternately performed to complete the air separation and obtain high-purity nitrogen. Since the PSA nitrogen generator is always under pressure during operation, does that mean the adsorption tower should be a pressure vessel?

To discuss whether the adsorption tower is a pressure vessel, it mainly depends on whether the following aspects of the adsorber meet the requirements of "pressure vessel".

The construction requirements for "Pressure Vessel", including material, design, fabrication, inspection and acceptance requirements are as follows:

1. The design pressure of the container is not more than 35MPa.

2. Design temperature range: -269℃ ~ +900℃.

3. The structural form should meet the relevant requirements.

Therefore, when the pressure and volume of the adsorption tower in the PSA nitrogen production equipment meet the above conditions, it can be classified as "pressure vessel".

For example, when the pressure and volume of the adsorption tower in the PSA nitrogen production equipment are under the following conditions, it does not belong to the "pressure vessel".

1. Vessels with design pressure lower than 0.1 MPa and vacuum degree lower than 0.02 MPa.

2. Vessels under the jurisdiction of "Safety Supervision Regulations for Mobile Pressure Vessels".

3. Vessels of which inner diameter (for non-circular sections, refers to the maximum geometric size of the inner boundary of the section, such as rectangle is diagonal, ellipse is long axis) is less than 150 mm.
