Whether the nitrogen content produced by the PSA nitrogen generator is as expected is impossible to tell with the naked eye alone. Because nitrogen itself is colorless and odorless, if you want to know the purity of nitrogen, you can only rely on testing.

When detecting the nitrogen produced by the PSA nitrogen production equipment, the nitrogen is not detected directly. Instead, the nitrogen content is detected by detecting the oxygen content in the nitrogen, and the nitrogen content is back calculated. Of course, by default, this means that the gas has been filtered through filtering measures. All other impurity gases are removed cleanly. Otherwise, hydrogen, oxygen, water, (methane, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide), etc. still need to be analyzed. In addition to the detection of nitrogen produced by PSA, China has also formulated corresponding measurement methods and standards for the use and purity of nitrogen, as follows:

  • JB/T6427 "Pressure swing adsorption oxygen and nitrogen production equipment"

  • GB/T 8979-2008 "Pure nitrogen, high-purity nitrogen and ultra-pure nitrogen"

  • GB 29202-2012 "National Food Safety Standard Food Additive Nitrogen"

  • GB/T 16944-2009 "Gas for electronic industry - Nitrogen"

  • JB/T 9074-2018 "Pure Nitrogen Equipment"

  • JB/T 53142-1999 "Pure Nitrogen Equipment Product Quality Grading"


In addition, the flow rate and purity of PSA nitrogen making equipment have been adjusted when customizing. If you want to adjust it again, the flow rate and purity will show a trade-off relationship. Therefore, it is not recommended to change the flow rate or purity of the PSA nitrogen generator without authorization, as it will cause the purity of the nitrogen output to fail to meet the requirements.
