Application of PSA Nitrogen Generators in the Printing Industry
Return

The history of using nitrogen in the printing industry can be traced back to the late 1990s. As an inert gas, nitrogen has found widespread applications in the printing sector, not only improving the quality of printed materials but also delivering economic benefits to enterprises.

Applications of Nitrogen in the Printing Industry:

  1. Ink Drying: Traditional drying methods often rely on external hot air or infrared radiation, which are energy-intensive and may damage printed materials. In contrast, high-purity nitrogen accelerates ink drying without heating, enhancing print quality while reducing product loss.

  2. Oxidation-Induced Discoloration: Printed materials exposed to air may discolor due  to oxidation. Nitrogen, as an inert gas, can control the atmospheric environment during printing, isolating oxygen and humidity to improve product quality.

  3. Paper Degradation from Moisture: During storage and transportation, paper-based prints are vulnerable to moisture and oxidation. Nitrogen protects paper products, enhancing their long-term storage capabilities.

  4. Low Production Safety: Common printing inks and solvents are flammable and explosive, increasing fire and explosion risks. Nitrogen integration significantly improves production safety.

  5. UV Curing Technology: Widely used in printing, UV curing reactions are hindered by oxygen and water vapor in the air, leading to ozone formation and reduced photoinitiator efficiency. Introducing nitrogen minimizes      these adverse effects, boosting curing performance. Additionally, nitrogen reduces photoinitiator usage, lowering UV ink costs.

Value of PSA Nitrogen Generators in the Printing Industry
Among nitrogen sources, PSA (Pressure Swing Adsorption) systems are highly recommended. This normal-temperature, physical nitrogen generation method is efficient, stable, safe, and eco-friendly. It meets diverse nitrogen purity requirements (95%–99.9995% or higher) and supports continuous 7×24-hour operation, ensuring uninterrupted production. Moreover, modular PSA systems offer flexible scalability to adapt to evolving nitrogen demands.
