As the most basic substance for sustaining life, oxygen is often used to supplement oxygen to patients in medical treatment. At present, with the advancement of gas separation technology, more and more hospitals no longer buy oxygen tanks and oxygen bags as in the past, but choose to build their own oxygen supply system to produce oxygen, lay pipes, and produce and use by themselves, which is convenient and safe, economic, saving worries. Generally, a set of medical oxygen production and oxygen supply system will be composed of two parts: oxygen source and gas supply system. The two parts will be explained separately below.

1. The composition of the medical oxygen system

The medical oxygen system consists of a medical oxygen supply source, medical gas pipelines and accessories, medical gas terminal equipment and a medical gas monitoring and alarm system.

2. Oxygen source

1) PSA oxygen production system: the concentration is 90%-96%. A complete set of equipment is composed of an air compressor, an oxygen generator, etc., and the oxygen pressure can be adjusted according to the configuration. It consumes a lot of electricity and is safer. It is very suitable in areas with inconvenient transportation.

2) Liquid oxygen storage tank: with a concentration of 99.5%, it is composed of a medical liquid oxygen storage tank, a vaporizer, and a pressure reducing device. The maximum volume of a single medical liquid oxygen storage tank cannot exceed 5m3, and the maximum quantity of liquid oxygen storage tanks installed in a single liquid oxygen station cannot exceed 4. The distance between the liquid oxygen storage tank station and other buildings shall not be less than 25m.

3) Bottled oxygen: concentration 99.5%, high-pressure gaseous oxygen. It is composed of gas cylinder group and manifold. It is often used as backup gas and emergency gas source in hospitals.

3. The pipeline

The oxygen pipeline adopts degreased seamless copper pipe or seamless stainless steel pipe, which needs to be degreased.

4. Medical gas terminal equipment

Medical gas terminal equipment includes medical equipment belts, gas terminals and call intercom systems.

The medical equipment has a classic long strip type, as well as a cartoon type and a mural type.

There are many standard types of gas terminal such as national standard type and German standard type. The terminals are installed on the equipment belt. Plug and play, with self-locking function. The colors and joints of the terminals used by different gases are different to avoid misplugging.

Call intercom systems are intelligent and information-based.

5. Medical gas monitoring and alarm system

The medical gas monitoring and alarm system devices include gas source monitoring and alarming, regional monitoring and remote monitoring and alarming; alarm methods include digital indicating alarms, audible alarms and visual alarms.
